Ranchi, July 10: Speaking at the 27th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council held in Ranchi, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren reiterated that the Central Government’s support is vital for the state’s all-round development.

Emphasizing the spirit of cooperative federalism, he said the demands raised are crucial steps toward the social and economic empowerment of the people of Jharkhand.

31 Key Demands Presented Before the Centre
During the meeting, Chief Minister Hemant Soren placed 31 major demands on behalf of Jharkhand before the Central Government.

These included immediate recovery of ₹1.40 lakh crore in pending royalties from coal companies, implementation of the Maiyaan Samman Yojana to provide ₹2,500 monthly assistance to women aged 18 to 50, support for the establishment of a Tribal University, and expedited development of infrastructure projects like the Ranchi Metro.
Highlights of Jharkhand’s Key Demands:
- Recovery of Coal Royalties: Immediate recovery of ₹1.40 lakh crore in pending royalty dues from coal companies.
- Maiyaan Samman Yojana: A scheme to provide ₹2,500 per month to women between the ages of 18 and 50.
- Tribal University: Support from the Centre for establishing a Tribal University.
- Ranchi Metro: Urgent implementation of the proposed Ranchi Metro project.

- Tourism and Rural Development: Central assistance to boost tourism and rural development initiatives.
- MSME Sector: Promotion of employment for youth and strengthening of village economies through the MSME sector.
- DMFT Policy Reforms: Reforms in the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) policy and emphasis on prioritizing local residents in PSU-dominated regions.
- Education and Health: Central support for improving education and healthcare infrastructure in the state.
