Ranchi, July 12: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh alert for Jharkhand as the monsoon activity intensifies over the region.
A series of thunderstorms, accompanied by gusty winds and heavy rainfall, is expected to affect several parts of the state from July 12 to 15.
According to the latest forecast:
July 12: Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) are likely at isolated places across the state.
July 13: Heavy rainfall is expected in southern and adjoining central parts, alongside thunderstorm and lightning activity with gusty winds.
July 14: Isolated areas in the northeastern and southeastern parts may receive heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms with gusty winds are also likely across Jharkhand.
July 15: Heavy rainfall is likely in the northeastern region, with continued risk of thunderstorms and gusty winds in isolated areas.
Synoptic Features
The IMD attributes this active monsoon phase to a cyclonic circulation now positioned over north Chhattisgarh and its neighbourhood, extending up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level.
Additionally, the monsoon trough currently stretches from Bikaner to the northeast Bay of Bengal, passing through Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, and Digha, intensifying rainfall prospects.
A secondary trough between southwest Uttar Pradesh and northwest Bay of Bengal, via north Odisha, also adds to the rainfall potential over Jharkhand.
Residents are advised to avoid open areas during thunderstorms and stay tuned for regular weather updates.
District administrations have been urged to prepare for possible waterlogging and ensure safety in vulnerable areas.
