ONGC secures patent for eco-friendly hydraulic fracturing fluid

THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Ahmedabad, July 18: In a major boost to India’s technological self-reliance in the energy sector, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has been granted a patent for its newly developed “Hydraulic Fracturing Fluid Composition.” The innovation, credited to ONGC’s Well Stimulation Services (WSS) team in Ahmedabad, introduces a sustainable, chloride-free formulation that enhances both operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Eco-Friendly Alternative to Imported Chemicals

The patented formulation incorporates Polyamine as a clay inhibitor, offering a viable and eco-friendly substitute to imported Potassium Chloride (KCl). Unlike traditional solutions, this composition is free from chlorides, making it more environmentally benign and thermally stable under Indian geological conditions.
