PINAKI MAJUMDAR
Jamshedpur, July 21: The monsoon conditions over Jharkhand remained active with moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity continuing across many parts of the state.
According to the India Meteorological Department, monsoon was normal over Jharkhand during the past 24 hours, with light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms reported at several locations.
Heavy rainfall was recorded at one location, with Ramgarh receiving the highest rainfall of 64.5 mm.

Synoptic Situation
The monsoon trough at mean sea level currently extends from the well-marked low-pressure area over West Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan, running through Churu, Ayanagar (Delhi), Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Patna, Bankura, Digha, and further eastwards into the northeast Bay of Bengal.
A secondary trough extending from central north Bihar to Odisha across Jharkhand continues to persist at an altitude of 0.9 to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Notably, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal around July 24, which could further enhance rainfall activity over Jharkhand and adjoining regions in the coming days.
Outlook
With an active monsoon trough and a developing low-pressure system, enhanced rainfall is expected across several parts of the state from July 24 onwards.
The weather office has also issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm/lightning activity in isolated pockets, urging citizens to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
Authorities are advised to remain on alert for potential waterlogging and disruption in rural and urban areas. Farmers and residents are encouraged to follow weather advisories closely and take necessary precautions.
