New Delhi, August 4: Former Jharkhand CM and JMM patriarch Dishom Guru Shibu Soren passed away today, leaving the state and nation in mourning.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi to pay his last respects and offered condolences to the family.
Later, President Droupadi Murmu, Rahul Gandhi, Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge and several other leaders also visited the hospital to pay tributes to late Shibu Soren.

During the visit, PM Modi was seen comforting Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who was visibly heartbroken over his father’s demise.

The first picture of CM Hemant Soren after his father’s death has surfaced, showing him in tears, while the Prime Minister consoled him with a warm embrace.

Kalpana Soren, Hemant’s wife, was also seen in tears. In this moment of grief, PM Modi himself appeared emotional.
Shibu Soren had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for nearly a month. He passed away on Monday morning at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi.
The veteran leader had been battling kidney-related ailments and other health complications for a long time.

He was admitted to the hospital on June 19, 2025, where he later suffered a brain stroke, worsening his condition. Although there was some improvement during treatment, after spending several days on a ventilator, he breathed his last today.
His death has sent a wave of grief across Jharkhand. The state government has declared three days of state mourning to honor the legacy of Guruji.
