IIT ISM Dhanbad conducts CPR training for life-saving preparedness

Dhanbad, August 8: The Research and Development Cell of IIT ISM Dhanbad today organized a hands-on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training session at the institute’s PENMAN Auditorium, aimed at equipping participants with life-saving skills for cardiac emergencies.

The training was conducted by Dr. Satabdi Kalyan Mukherjee, Head of Emergency Services at Vivekananda Hospital, Durgapur, along with her expert medical team. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mukherjee emphasized that CPR is an essential skill for everyone—not just healthcare professionals.

“In emergencies, the first few minutes are crucial. Properly administered CPR can mean the difference between life and death,” she said.

Prof. Sagar Pal, Dean (R&D), IIT ISM, presided over the programme and reiterated the institute’s commitment to fostering health awareness and emergency response preparedness across the campus community.

“Skills like CPR empower individuals to act swiftly and effectively in life-threatening situations,” he noted.

The event was also attended by Dr. Tanushree Banerjee, CMO In-charge, and Prof. S. R. Samadder, Associate Dean (R&D).

The session included live demonstrations followed by hands-on practice, where participants learned and performed CPR techniques on medical dummies under expert supervision.

The interactive training format helped participants understand the critical importance of timely response, correct procedures, and the vital role CPR plays in saving lives.

Officials stated that the initiative was part of a broader effort to promote health education and emergency readiness among students, faculty, and staff at IIT ISM Dhanbad.
