Ranchi, August 14: Seventeen police officers and personnel from Jharkhand, including an IPS officer, have been selected for Gallantry, President’s, and Meritorious Service Medals. They will be honoured in various categories on the occasion of Independence Day.
Of the awardees, five officers and personnel will receive the Gallantry Medal, one will be honoured with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, and eleven will be awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued the notification on Thursday.

Jharkhand-cadre IPS officer Anoop T. Mathew, currently on deputation with the CBI, has been awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service.

Recipients of the Gallantry Medal:
- SI Vinay Kumar
- Head Constable Pramod Rai
- Constable Ved Prakash Mahato
- Constable Ramchandra Mahato
- Constable Krishna Murmu
Recipient of the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service:
- Havildar Kailash Kumar Shrestha
