Ranchi, August 16: The Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday observed the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, with state president and Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi describing him as the architect of Jharkhand and a visionary who shaped modern India.
Tributes at Assembly and Party Office
Floral tributes were offered at Vajpayee’s life-size statue in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly and at his portrait in the state BJP headquarters. Marandi was joined by executive president Ravindra Kumar Rai, state organisation general secretary Karmveer Singh, MP and state general secretary Aditya Sahu, Pradeep Verma, Manoj Singh, town president Varun Sahu and other senior leaders.

“Atal Ji Lives in the Hearts of Jharkhand”
Marandi hailed Vajpayee as a statesman and poet who transformed India’s destiny.
“Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the name of a great personality. A true son of Mother India, he laid the foundation of a developed nation through the Golden Quadrilateral project, the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and the Pokhran nuclear tests. Poet-hearted Atal ji lives in the hearts of the people of Jharkhand,” he said.
Fulfilled the Dream of a Separate State
Rai underlined Vajpayee’s decisive role in carving out Jharkhand.
“He not only fulfilled the long-standing dream of a separate state but also took historic steps towards building a modern, self-reliant India,” Rai said.
A Leader Respected Across Parties
Karmveer Singh recalled Vajpayee’s reputation as a consensus-builder.
“Atal ji was a man without enemies. He commanded respect across party lines and always raised India’s prestige and cultural pride on the world stage,” Singh noted.
Senior Leaders Join in Tribute
Among those who paid homage were state vice presidents Rakesh Prasad, Aarti Kujur, Vikas Pritam, Sunita Singh, Saroj Singh, Hemant Das, Subodh Singh Guddu, Shiv Pujan Pathak, Yogendra Pratap Singh, Ashok Baraik, Arun Jha, Suraj Chourasia, Sunil Sahu, Deendayal Barnwal, and Sanjay Chaudhary, along with several other leaders.
