Ranchi, August 18: Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari has directed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure poor families receive dhotis and sarees twice a year without delay. A flying squad will monitor the process to prevent irregularities.

She also called for greater awareness about welfare schemes, urging officials to use hoardings, street plays and local languages so that beneficiaries know exactly what they are entitled to, when and where.

No beneficiary to be left out

Tiwari instructed officials to make sure no eligible person is excluded from the Public Distribution System. Deceased beneficiaries must be removed swiftly so new ones can be added. She also stressed error-free data, complete KYC and monthly physical checks.

Warehouses to be made functional

The Chief Secretary set a 20 September deadline to make all state warehouses operational, pointing out that many remain unused due to minor deficiencies. With paddy procurement beginning in December, she directed timely lifting, smooth storage and prompt farmer payments.

Food Secretary Umashankar Singh and senior officials attended the review, with Deputy Commissioners joining online.
