Ranchi, August 28: On the concluding day of the Jharkhand Assembly’s Monsoon Session, Chief Minister Hemant Soren delivered an emotional address, stating that the session ended amid deeply moving moments.
He recalled that the session had to be adjourned earlier following the demise of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren on August 4.
Resuming after the interruption, the Chief Minister said this Monsoon Session would be remembered as both significant and unforgettable.
He described Shibu Soren as not just a legislator, MP, Chief Minister, or Union Minister, but as a leader who rose above these roles to become a guiding light for tribals, Dalits, backward classes, the poor, and the oppressed.
“No words are enough to describe his contribution. We will continue to walk the path he showed us,” Soren said.

Shibu Soren’s Role in Jharkhand Movement
Highlighting the struggle behind statehood, Soren remarked that achieving Jharkhand’s movement was no easy task. “Alongside Jharkhand, other states too were formed. I don’t think such an intense fight for rights has been witnessed anywhere else,” he said.
He noted that for 10 to 12 days, people from across India and even abroad visited Jharkhand to pay homage to Shibu Soren. He also recalled that the Telangana Chief Minister had once acknowledged how Jharkhand’s statehood inspired the demand for Telangana. Guruji, he added, provided guidance to movements beyond Jharkhand, making his influence truly national.
Supplementary Budget and Governance
The Chief Minister pointed out that the Monsoon Session also saw the presentation of the Supplementary Budget. He said the opposition’s protests were part of political strategy, but clarified that supplementary budgets are not political tools but constitutional provisions.
He reminded that his government had completed five years earlier, and the people had once again handed them a strong mandate. “The opposition has its own objectives and political views, and naturally, it tries to corner the government,” he said.

Criticism of Opposition
Taking a swipe at opposition parties, Soren remarked that he often worries about them, as they remain driven by narrow political interests. “They are left without real issues and take to the streets aimlessly,” he added.
