Jamshedpur, Sept 5: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds with a maximum speed of 30–40 Kmph at isolated places over Jharkhand in the next 24 hours.

According to the IMD, a well-marked low-pressure area lies over the northwest Bay of Bengal off the north Odisha coast. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 Km above mean sea level and tilts southwestwards with height.

The system is expected to move west-northwestwards across north Odisha, adjoining Jharkhand, and north Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the monsoon trough at mean sea level currently passes through Bikaner, Jaipur, Damoh, Pendra Road, Sambalpur, the centre of the low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal, and extends southeastwards to the east-central Bay of Bengal.
