Dhanbad, Sept 11: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad will host a two-day International Conference on Mining Engineering – Digital Intelligence for Green Mining and Industrial Networks (DIGMIN-2025) on September 12 and 13 at the Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre.
Envisioned as India’s flagship event at the crossroads of mining, sustainability, and digital transformation, the conference will bring together global experts to deliberate on the accelerated adoption of next-generation technologies in mining and allied industrial sectors.

A platform for future-ready mining
Prof. Anindya Sinha, convener and chairman of the Department of Mining Engineering, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, described DIGMIN-2025 as more than just a conference, calling it “a platform to co-create the future of mining.”

He emphasized that with industries worldwide undergoing rapid digitalization, India’s mining ecosystem must embrace robotics, AI, IoT, and intelligent automation while maintaining its commitment to sustainability.
Prof. Siddhartha Agarwal, co-convener from the same department, highlighted that the event holds added importance as it coincides with the centenary celebrations of IIT (ISM). He said that panel discussions, technology exhibitions, and policy dialogues will encourage collaboration between academia, industry, government, and startups, thereby building a resilient and future-ready mining sector.
Global experts and keynote speakers
The conference will feature prominent keynote speakers, including Om Prakash, President and CEO – Mining Business, Jindal Power Ltd.; Shailender Sinha, Vice President – Exploration, International Resources Holding, UAE; Prof. D.C. Panigrahi, former director of IIT (ISM); Prof. Neelima Satyam of IIT Indore; Prof. Rajive Ganguli of the University of Utah; Victor Tenorio of Arizona State University; Dr. Sihe Nhleko of the University of the Witwatersrand; Satish Penmetsa, CEO of GroundHog; and Pramod Kumar Maheshwari, Former Director of Mines Safety (DGMS), among other eminent figures from academia, research, and industry.
