Ranchi, Sept 23: The Hemant Soren-led government has issued 1,556 appointment letters in the past nine months, according to figures highlighted by BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo. This represents just 0.15% of the alliance’s pre-election target of providing one million government jobs within five years.
Election Promise of 10 Lakh Jobs
During the 2024 assembly elections, the JMM-Congress-RJD alliance had pledged to create 10 lakh jobs for youth in Jharkhand. Their manifesto also stated that a detailed roadmap for recruitment would be released within the first six months of forming the government. So far, no such roadmap has been made public.
Appointments Mostly in Education Department
Of the 1,556 appointments made, the majority are in the Education Department, including positions such as assistant teachers, lab assistants, and municipal services. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo described the progress as slow compared to the target.
Pending Promises from Previous Term
Pratul also pointed out that during his earlier tenure, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had promised 2.5 lakh jobs, but no clear report has been shared with the public on that commitment. He added that while the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) declared 342 candidates successful in exams held over several years, they have yet to receive appointment letters, with no official explanation given.
Government Yet to Respond
Millions of young people in the state continue to await government employment opportunities. The BJP has said it will keep raising the issue and pressing the government for accountability. The Hemant Soren government has not yet responded to the criticism.
