Jamshedpur, Sept 24: The Jharkhand chapter of the Medical Students Network (MSN), in collaboration with the IMA Junior Doctors Network (state JDN), organized a day-long mega health camp at Bal Kalyan Vidya Mandir, Jamshedpur.

Dr. Anushri Baral, Co-convener of IMA MSN Jharkhand, said the camp provided free health screenings for 350 students. The students were examined by specialist doctors from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMCH).

Health Screening Reveals Multiple Cases

During the screenings, doctors identified two cases of nystagmus, one case of congenital cataract, 75 cases of vitamin deficiency, 29 cases of iron deficiency anemia, 121 cases of refractive errors, and 178 cases of cough and cold. All students received free medicines, according to Dr. Baral, who also coordinated the camp.

The specialist doctors present included Dr. Raghavendra Kumar (Pediatrics), Dr. Ratneshwar Bodra (Medicine), Dr. Vishwajeet and Dr. Amar Kumar (Ophthalmology), and Dr. Vikash Kumar Sharma (ENT).

Focus on Preventive Healthcare and Awareness

“Our goal is to raise health awareness among school children and ensure early detection of conditions like nutritional deficiencies and vision problems. This camp is a small but important step toward preventive healthcare and a healthier future for our students,” said Dr. Baral.

The organizing committee described the camp as a successful effort to promote student health awareness in Jharkhand. The initiative was well-received by students, teachers, and parents and is expected to inspire similar camps in other schools across the state.
