Jamshedpur, Oct 17: A vibrant confluence of faith, purity, and togetherness was witnessed at the Diwali Mela organized by the Ghatshila-based Sona Devi University on its campus today.

The celebration, held at the Vivekananda Auditorium, marked the twin festivals of Diwali and Chhath Puja, blending devotion with cultural vibrancy.

The event aimed to acquaint students with the spiritual significance of Surya Upasana (Sun Worship) and Chhath Puja.

The program commenced with the traditional invocation and worship of Chhathi Maiya and Lord Surya, followed by devotional songs rendered by students, faculty members, and staff.

Participants offered prayers with enthusiasm, devotion, and reverence, reflecting the cultural ethos of the festival.

The cultural segment saw captivating performances by students, who presented soulful renditions of traditional Chhath songs and dance numbers.

Adding to the festive mood, several food stalls set up by students offered a variety of delectable dishes, attracting enthusiastic visitors.

Addressing the gathering, Vice-Chancellor J.P. Mishra extended heartfelt greetings on the occasions of Diwali and Chhath Puja.

He emphasized the importance of such celebrations in strengthening the bond between nature, family, and faith, and urged everyone to promote the use of indigenous products during festivals to support the ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.

Registrar Prof. Gulab Singh Azad expressed gratitude to all participants and noted that such events reconnect individuals with the cultural roots of India, which many are gradually drifting away from.
