Civil Aviation Minister inaugurates renovated Terminal 2 at Delhi Airport

New Delhi, Oct 25: Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu on Saturday officially inaugurated the renovated Terminal 2 (T2) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA).

The terminal, originally built by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) four decades ago, had been closed in April for extensive modernization and will reopen for operations from Sunday.

At the event, DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar stated that the airport, India’s largest, manages over 1,300 daily flight movements and has an overall annual passenger capacity exceeding 100 million. T2 alone can now accommodate 15 million passengers each year.

IGIA consists of three terminals—T1, T2, and T3—and four runways. Recent expansions have increased T1’s capacity to 40 million and T3’s to 45 million passengers annually, further enhancing the airport’s ability to manage rising passenger traffic.

The upgrades reflect Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL)’s ongoing efforts to modernize facilities and meet international standards in passenger handling and airport operations.
