Deoghar, Nov 10: Ranchi district became the overall champion in the State Cycling Championship, which concluded on Sunday at the Kumaitha Sports Complex in Deoghar.
Ranchi’s cyclists dominated the two-day event, securing victories in all four categories — senior, youth, junior, and sub-junior — showcasing their all-round excellence in the competition.
Results:

- Senior Category: Winner – Ranchi; Runner-up – Lohardaga
- Youth Category: Winner – Ranchi; Runner-up – Pakur
- Junior Category: Winner – Ranchi; Runner-up – Lohardaga
- Sub-Junior Category: Winner – Ranchi; Runner-up – Giridih

At the closing ceremony, Deoghar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Naman Priesh Lakra attended as the chief guest and presented trophies to the winners and runners-up of each category.
Addressing the participants, he encouraged them to keep practicing and strive for continuous improvement. “Such events not only nurture the spirit of sportsmanship but also provide a platform for emerging talent,” he said.
Appreciating the efforts of the young cyclists, Lakra added, “Participation itself is an achievement. Players should respect one another while competing. Sports are an integral part of life and help individuals focus on their goals and pursue excellence.”

The DC also praised the Deoghar District Cycling Association for successfully organizing the championship, noting that such events help promote sports talent across the district and the state. District Sports Officer Santosh Kumar was also present on the occasion.
According to the organizers, around 200 cyclists — men, women, boys, and girls — from 20 districts participated in the competition.
