Patna, Nov 17: Amid discussions over the formation of a new government in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reached the Raj Bhavan on Monday and met Governor Arif Mohammed Khan.
During the 30-minute meeting, the Chief Minister informed the Governor that the Cabinet has decided to dissolve the 17th Assembly on 19 November. On the same day, he will submit his resignation and also stake claim to form the new government.

Earlier, the Nitish Cabinet held its final meeting at the Old Secretariat, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Choudhary and several senior ministers.
After meeting the Governor, Nitish Kumar returned to his residence in Patna. According to sources, he may hold an important meeting with party leaders.
The swearing-in ceremony is likely to be organized on 20 November at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, where Nitish Kumar may take the oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time. Until the new government is formed, he will continue to serve as the acting Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, the BJP Legislature Party meeting scheduled for 18 November has been postponed to 19 November.

Following the statement of Dilip Jaiswal, it is now nearly certain that the BJP will elect a new Legislature Party leader in this meeting. After this, the party will hand over its formal letter of support for Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister to its alliance partners, following which the claim to form the government will be presented.
