Cold wave alert issued for 11 districts across Jharkhand

 

Jamshedpur, Nov 17: Jharkhand is bracing for an intense cold wave as icy winds sweep across several parts of the state.

The Ranchi Meteorological Centre has issued a cold wave alert for 11 districts, including Ranchi, Khunti, Gumla, Lohardaga, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Latehar, Chatra, Bokaro, Koderma and Giridih.

According to officials, temperatures are expected to drop sharply over the next 48 hours, with night temperatures likely to slip below normal in many areas.

The chill factor, intensified by strong north-westerly winds, may further increase discomfort for residents.

Authorities have advised people—especially children, senior citizens, and those with health issues—to avoid early morning and late evening exposure and to take adequate precautions.

Met statistics revealed that the minimum temperature was hovering below 10 degrees celsius in several places including Ranchi , Daltonganj, Bokaro,  Hazaribagh and  Khunti.
