Ranchi,  Nov. 26: Usha Martin University observed Constitution Day on 26 November 2025 with a special programme organised by the Faculty of Legal Studies in collaboration with the NSS unit.
The event, held in the Moot Court Hall, aimed to strengthen constitutional awareness and encourage students to examine the foundations of India’s democratic system.

Preamble Reading and Oath Ceremony

The programme began with the reading of the Preamble, followed by faculty members and students taking the constitutional oath together.
The ceremony reminded participants of India’s commitment to justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.

Moot Court Trial on Gender Equality

The central academic activity of the day was a courtroom trial presentation on gender equality.
Students from the Faculty of Legal Studies and the Department of Forensic Science presented a structured moot trial highlighting:

  • the constitutional guarantee of equality before the law, and

  • the prohibition of gender-based discrimination.

The session gave students an opportunity to apply legal reasoning, engage with a contemporary issue and demonstrate practical advocacy skills.

VC and PVC Address Students

The Vice Chancellor addressed the gathering and spoke about the role of constitutional rights in safeguarding democratic life.
She encouraged students to develop sustained interest in civic and legal learning and appreciated their active participation.

The Pro Vice Chancellor also delivered a brief address, emphasising the importance of studying the Constitution to understand governance, democracy and the country’s legal framework.

Senior Officials Attend the Programme

The event was attended by the Registrar, Dean Academics and the Campus Director.
The observance of Constitution Day offered students a practical understanding of constitutional principles and reinforced their responsibilities as future members of the legal profession.
