Jharkhand shooters shine at East Zone Championship, win 32 medals

^{Jamshedpur, August 31: Jharkhand’s shooters delivered a strong performance at the 10th East Zone Shooting Championship, winning an impressive 32 medals, including 11 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze, at the championship held in Asansol from August 25 to 30.}

^{A total of 165 shooters from Jharkhand participated in various shooting events, with the contingent producing several standout performances across senior, junior and youth categories.}

^{Pratik, Akansha Lead Medal Charge}

^{Among the notable performances, Pratik Kumar Mehta won gold in the 50m prone men’s event with a score of 573/600, while Rishu Kumar Mahto secured the silver medal with 570/600.}

^{In the women’s 50m prone event, Akansha Ojha clinched gold with an impressive score of 584/600. Srishty Kindo won silver and Sivani Soni took bronze, with both shooters recording 566/600.}

^{Tannu Kumari emerged victorious in the women’s 50m three-position event after scoring 554/600, while Monika Kumari claimed silver with 550/600.}

^{In the 25m standard pistol event, Sonu Pratap Singh secured the gold medal with a score of 266/300.}

^{Jharkhand’s younger shooters also made their mark at the championship.}

^{Ashwin won gold in the junior men’s 10m air rifle event with a score of 394/400, while Archana Kumari secured bronze in the women’s 10m air rifle event with 391/400.}

^{In the junior men’s 10m air pistol event, Chirag Kumar won bronze with 367/400.}

^{The 25m sports pistol junior women’s event saw Ankita Bose win bronze with a score of 239/300. In the youth category, Sanjay Kisku clinched gold in the 25m sports pistol youth men’s event.}

^{The performances have provided further encouragement to the state’s shooting fraternity, particularly with several shooters now earning an opportunity to compete at the national level.}

^{Jharkhand State Rifle Association joint secretary Madhur Agrawal congratulated the shooters and coaches for their performance, saying the medal haul reflected their dedication, discipline and sustained preparation.}

^{He said the achievement was a matter of pride for Jharkhand and expressed confidence that the successful shooters would continue to perform strongly at the national level.}

^{Shooters who have qualified through the East Zone championship will represent Jharkhand at the 69th National Shooting Championship, scheduled to be held in Delhi and Bhopal in December 2026.}

^{Jharkhand State Rifle Association president Diwakar Singh and general secretary Uttamchand also congratulated the entire contingent, including the shooters, coaches and officials, for their contribution to the state’s success.}
