PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, Dec 2: Panic spread late Monday night after a sudden fire broke out at H.No. 38 on Sukhia Road in Golmuri.

The incident occurred at the residence of Haspreet Singh. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Haspreet said that at the time of the incident, his mother and sister had gone to a dentist.

He had just stepped out of the house when he noticed smoke emerging from one of the rooms. Within minutes, the fire intensified and engulfed the house.

As flames rose, neighbours rushed to the spot and immediately alerted the fire brigade.

A team reached the location within minutes and, along with local residents, began efforts to douse the blaze.

After nearly half an hour of continuous firefighting, the fire was brought under control.

By then, however, significant damage had been done—items stored in the storeroom were destroyed, and several household electronic appliances, including a TV and refrigerator, along with furniture, were completely gutted.

Preliminary estimates suggest a loss of around Rs 2.5 lakh.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as no one was inside the house when the fire broke out, preventing a potentially major tragedy.

Police and fire department officials inspected the site and have begun an investigation.

While an electrical short circuit is suspected, officials said the exact cause will be known only after the investigation report.

The incident has also sparked concerns over fire safety preparedness in residential areas.
