Dhanbad, Dec 5: A woman identified as Pramila Devi (48), a resident of Bihar’s Nawada district, died in a road accident involving an auto-rickshaw and a pickup van on NH-32 near Kola Kushma More under Saraidhela police station on Friday. Four others sustained injuries but were discharged after first aid.

All five passengers of the auto were rushed to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), where Pramila Devi succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Doctors said she had suffered a severe head injury.

Pramila Devi, along with her husband and granddaughter, was travelling from Bhuifore to Dhanbad railway station to catch a train when a speeding pickup van rammed into the auto from the side. The impact caused the auto to overturn, and Pramila was crushed beneath the vehicle.

Saraidhela police station officer-in-charge Manjit Kumar said that both the auto driver and the pickup van driver fled the scene after the accident. Police have seized both vehicles.

Pramila Devi had arrived in Dhanbad two days ago to visit her daughter and was returning home to Nawada when the accident occurred.
