New Delhi, Dec 17: Congress MPs staged a protest inside the Parliament House complex on Wednesday, accusing the Centre of misusing the Enforcement Directorate after a Delhi court declined to take cognisance of the agency’s money-laundering charges against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.

Holding banners proclaiming “Satyamev Jayate, Truth Prevails,” the MPs gathered on the steps of Makar Dwar, raised slogans against the government and demanded an apology from the Narendra Modi-led dispensation, asserting that the court order had vindicated their stand.

Senior party leaders, including Congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal, AICC general secretary Mukul Wasnik, and MPs Shashi Tharoor, Tariq Anwar, Kumari Selja, K Suresh and Manickam Tagore, were among those who took part in the demonstration.

Earlier, the Congress had called for the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, claiming the ruling establishment had pursued a campaign of political vendetta.

The party said its workers were angered by what it described as the misuse of central agencies and vowed to intensify its fight to expose such actions.
