Daltonganj, December 25: Chairman of the prestigious St Mariam’s School in Daltonganj, Avinash Dev, met the chief minister Hemant Soren in Ranchi and thanked him for the enactment of the PESA in the state.

Avinash Dev told the Jharkhand Story Network correspondent, “The chief minister Hemant Soren has done a historic work. It was long overdue. It’s Hemant Soren’s vision and determination that saw PESA getting approved by the cabinet.”

PESA is now a reality and not any vocabulary, added the chairman. It’s a tribal dream coming true.

“The chief minister was in the midst of people who had come to congratulate him for the PESA. I was also there,” recalled Avinash Dev.

He said, “All of a sudden, the chief minister Hemant Soren spotted me in the gathering. He asked his staff to bring me to him. When I reached the chief minister, he became gladdened to find me.”

On being asked that the opposition parties are criticising the PESA to which he said, “One should read this act sincerely. It’s a big effort of the Hemant Soren government. Our tribal brothers and sisters will have their rule and governance in their respective scheduled areas.”

“PESA will strengthen gram sabha and the tribals will have far more access to the natural resources than ever”, opined the chairman of the St Mariam’s School.

“Jal, jungle jameen – are something that goes with the tribal. They have a traditional supremacy over it,” he said.

He agreed that PESA has little bearing in Palamu since Palamu district has a small tribal scheduled area around Satbarwa block only.
