Shafali climbs to 6th in batting, Deepti remains no.1 bowler in ICC T20I Rankings

 

Dubai, Dec 30: India’s Shafali Verma continued her upward surge in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings, jumping four places to sixth in the latest update released on Tuesday, following her dominant performances in the ongoing home series against Sri Lanka.

The 21-year-old opener has been the standout batter of the five-match series, piling up 236 runs in four matches at a staggering average of 118, including three half-centuries.

All-rounder Deepti Sharma retained her No.1 position in the Women’s T20I bowling rankings with 738 rating points.

Deepti is on the verge of a major milestone, needing just one more wicket in the fifth T20I to become the leading wicket-taker in women’s T20I cricket, where she is currently tied with Australia’s Megan Schutt on 151 wickets.

She also continues to hold third place in the all-rounders’ rankings with 387 points.

Wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh registered a sharp jump of seven places to joint 20th in the batting rankings after her unbeaten 40 in the fourth T20I at Thiruvananthapuram.

At the top of the batting charts, Australia’s Beth Mooney maintained her No.1 spot with 794 rating points, followed by West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews on 774.

Indian opener Smriti Mandhana, who recently crossed the landmark of 10,000 international runs during the same series, is placed third with 767 points.

In the bowling rankings, Indian pacer Renuka Singh emerged as one of the biggest movers, climbing eight places to joint sixth after her four-wicket haul in the third T20I. Left-arm spinner Shree Charani also made notable gains, jumping 17 places to 52nd after claiming four wickets in the series so far.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, Hayley Matthews leads the table with 505 points, ahead of New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr on 434, while Deepti Sharma is placed third.
