Dhanbad, Dec 31: To ensure peaceful New Year celebrations, magistrates along with a heavy police force have been deployed at eight major picnic spots in Dhanbad district.
Dhanbad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prabhat Kumar, while outlining the New Year security arrangements, said that magistrates with additional police force have been posted at eight prominent picnic locations in the district.
He said special attention has been given to Maithon and Panchet dams of DVC, Topchanchi Lake, Bhatinda Falls and Birsa Munda Park, where a large number of revellers are expected to gather.

Deployment at temples, markets
Apart from picnic spots, special security arrangements have also been made at major religious places, including Chihati Dham, Shakti Mandir and Lilori Sthan.
Police personnel have also been deployed at hotels, restaurants, clubs, malls and posh market areas of the coal city.
Anti-drunk driving underway
The SSP said that an anti-drink-and-drive campaign has been underway for the past week. “Checking is being carried out today (Wednesday) and will continue tomorrow as well,” he said.
Prabhat Kumar appealed to people to celebrate the New Year responsibly and not harm others for personal enjoyment. He said the police do not want anyone to spend the New Year in police custody.
