Jamshedpur, January 5: Two persons — a woman and a young man — were seriously injured on Monday morning after a speeding truck rammed into their scooter from behind on the Tatanagar railway station overbridge in Jamshedpur.
Accident Occurs During Morning Rush Hour
The accident took place at around 8:30 am, a peak hour when the overbridge witnesses heavy movement of schoolchildren, office-goers, and daily commuters.
Eyewitnesses said the stretch was crowded due to the morning rush, and the continuous movement of heavy vehicles during such hours has long been a concern for residents.

Truck Hits Scooter From Behind
According to sources, the truck, belonging to a construction company and fitted with machinery at the rear, was travelling from Sankata Singh petrol pump towards Star Talkies when it hit the scooter from behind. The vehicle bore registration number JH 05 DM 8103.
The impact threw both riders onto the road, leaving them badly injured.
Locals Rush to Help, Truck Seized
Passers-by immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to a safer area near the road. They were later laid inside the nearby Hanuman temple premises.
The injured woman contacted her family, following which her relatives arrived at the scene.
Traffic police reached the spot soon after, brought the situation under control, and seized the truck involved in the accident.
Injured Undergoing Treatment, Traffic Safety Concerns Raised
Both injured persons are currently undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over traffic management on the busy station overbridge. Local residents have demanded that the administration restrict the entry of heavy vehicles during peak hours to prevent such accidents in the future.
