SUBHASH MISHRA

Giridih, January 6: Giridih Police on Tuesday arrested seven history-sheeter criminals along with a large cache of arms and ammunition during a raid in the Juruwadih area under Jamua police station, about 29 km from the district headquarters.

According to police officials, the operation was conducted after Superintendent of Police Dr Bimal Kumar received a tip-off about the presence of armed criminals planning a major crime in the area. Acting swiftly, the SP formed a special police squad, which carried out the raid and arrested all seven accused on the spot.

Arms, Vehicles Recovered

During the operation, police recovered three country-made pistols, 23 live cartridges, four magazines, one Santro car, and two motorcycles from the accused.

Officials said the criminals had reached the spot in cars and motorcycles from different areas and were allegedly preparing to execute a serious criminal incident when the police team struck.

Criminal Background

Police confirmed that several of the arrested persons are history-sheeters, with multiple cases registered against them at various police stations in Giridih and adjoining areas.

After interrogation, all seven accused were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody, police said.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain their wider criminal network and the source of the arms and ammunition.
