Jamshedpur, Jan 16: Jamshedpur’s rich golfing tradition marked a historic milestone on Friday with the ceremonial inauguration of the 75th Steel City Golf Tournament at the Golmuri Golf Course. Former Union minister and avid golfer Arjun Munda formally teed off the platinum-jubilee edition, drawing applause for his composed and elegant play.
Addressing the gathering, Munda praised the organisers for preserving the tournament’s legacy while upholding high standards of professionalism. He described the Steel City Golf Tournament as a symbol of discipline, tradition and sporting excellence, reflecting Jamshedpur’s long-standing culture of organised sports.

Distinguished presence at opening ceremony
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including Neeraj Kumar Sinha, Jamshedpur Golf Secretary and Tata Steel Chief–Safety; Abhijeet Avinash Nanoti, Managing Director of JCAPCPL; Varun Bajaj, Tata Steel Chief–Corporate Services; B. Chandrasekhar; and Ranveer Sinha, Chairperson of DBMS and Global President of the XLRI Alumni Committee.
Over 250 golfers from across India
Being played across the scenic 18-hole Beldih and Golmuri Golf Courses, the tournament has attracted more than 250 golfers from major golfing centres such as Patna, Bhubaneswar, Paradip, Ranchi, Delhi and host city Jamshedpur. A strong local contingent has added depth and intensity to the competition.
Finale on Sunday
The championship will conclude on Sunday, with T. V. Narendran, CEO and Managing Director of Tata Steel, scheduled to present the trophies to the winners.
