Dhanbad, Dec. 23: Team Sigma of BIT Sindri emerged victorious in Smart India Hackathon ’23 held at Techno India University, Salt Lake, Kolkata.
Smart India Hackathon 2023 is a nationwide initiative to provide students with a platform to solve some of our daily pressing problems.
The Sigma team of BIT tackled the “Development of a gamified platform on Children’s Rights,” a problem under the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Amidst 55 hardware and 179 software problem statements, Sigma’s focus on boosting legal literacy for children caught everyone’s eye in the competition.
Selected from 500 submissions, the BIT team advanced to the 36-hour final Hackathon hosted at Techno India University, Salt Lake Kolkata.
A BIT official said the grand finale featured three evolution rounds, pushing teams to elevate their ideas and showcase natural engineering prowess.

Team Sigma, a student team led by game developer Anish Singh, navigated these challenges with ingenuity, highlighting their dedication to innovation.
Comprising Ashish and Sandeep, Ghalib, Abhishek, and Riya (all of 3rd semester), team SiGma’s collaboration resulted in a gamified platform on Children’s Rights. This solution showcased technical expertise and aimed at strengthening legal awareness among India’s youth.
The Director of BIT Sindri, Prof (Dr.) Pankaj Rai’s ideas for nurturing the coding environment on the campus and encouraging students to maximum participation and contribution in events organised by the Indian government worked significantly.

The credit for the achievement of Team SiGma also goes to the contributions of Prof. Ghanshyam, Chairman of the Career Development Centre (CDC), Dr S. C. Dutta (HOD, CSE & IT), and Hackathon and Coding Club Prof-In-charge Dr Dinesh Kumar Prabhakar.
The team also appreciated the guidance and support provided by faculty members of the institute and their senior mentors of the HnCC club, including Tanmay Agrawal.
Prof in -charge of the HnCC club appreciated the support and guidance of the CSE & IT department faculty members for their invaluable work in organizing the internal Hackathon round, a crucial phase in the selection process at BIT Sindri.
