Jamshedpur, Feb 3: In a nomination marked by restraint, faith and growing public confidence, Sudha Gupta on Tuesday filed her nomination for the post of Mayor of the Mango Municipal Corporation, transforming what is often a routine procedural exercise into a moment of quiet political significance.
The day began on an emotional note when former Jharkhand minister and her husband Banna Gupta personally saw her off from their residence. The gesture was widely seen as symbolic of shared values, mutual respect, and a life rooted in public service and social commitment.
Before heading to file her papers, Sudha Gupta began the day with prayers at home. She later visited the Rankini Temple and offered prayers at the Bara Hanuman Temple, seeking blessings for harmony, dignity, and a better future for the people of Mango.
Her nomination reflected broad social endorsement, with proposers representing diverse communities. Among those present were Mohammad Zakaria from the Muslim community, the president of the Mango Gurudwara representing the Sikh community, Bipin Jha from the Brahmin community, Bhagwan Prasad from the Vaishya community, former national president of the All India Rouniyar Vaishya Mahasabha Leela Gupta, David Purti from the Christian community, and Rajesh Sharma representing the Vishwakarma community. Their presence conveyed a strong message of inclusiveness and social unity.
Addressing the media after filing her nomination, Sudha Gupta said the election was not about power but about the hopes and aspirations of every family in Mango. She described public trust and blessings as her greatest strength.
The nomination process was conducted with notable simplicity and discipline, without rallies or show of strength. Explaining the restrained approach, she said ongoing flyover construction, narrow roads and active labour work in the area made large gatherings impractical and potentially disruptive. To avoid inconvenience to the public, she chose to file her nomination with a limited group of representatives.
The calm, people-centric manner in which the nomination was filed is being seen as a meaningful and positive signal in Mango’s civic political landscape.
