Jamshedpur, Feb 19: Most parts of Jharkhand recorded above-normal day temperatures on Wednesday, while rainfall remained nil across all reporting stations, according to data from IMD surface observatories.
Among the major observatories, Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 30.0°C, which is 2.6°C above normal. Jamshedpur registered 32.8°C (+2.4°C), while Daltonganj reported 32.4°C (+2.8°C). Bokaro Thermal recorded 32.5°C, a significant 5.4°C above normal.
Chaibasa-PTO recorded the highest maximum temperature in Jharkhand at 33.8°C, which was 4.5°C above normal, indicating a steady rise in daytime heat across the state.
Minimum temperatures also above normal
Minimum temperatures in Jharkhand also remained above normal in several districts. Ranchi recorded 13.8°C (+0.8°C), Jamshedpur 15.2°C (+1.4°C), and Bokaro Thermal 13.6°C (+2.8°C).
However, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was reported at Gumla, where the mercury dipped to 9.8°C.
No rainfall, low visibility at Jamshedpur
No rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours at any IMD reporting station, confirming dry weather conditions across Jharkhand.
The lowest visibility was reported at Jamshedpur (MO), measuring 2,000 metres.
AWS data shows rising temperatures in several districts
Data from Automated Weather Stations (AWS) further highlighted the warming trend. Seraikela recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4°C, Pakur 31.7°C, Deoghar and Baharagora 30.7°C each, and Koderma 29.4°C.
Latehar recorded one of the lower daytime highs at 24.9°C. Minimum temperatures ranged from 9.8°C at Gumla to 14.1°C at Pakur.
Overall, Jharkhand weather conditions remained dry, with rising daytime temperatures and no significant precipitation activity reported across the state.
