Ranchi, February 19: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday paid tribute to Aalin Sherin Abraham, a young girl from Kerala whose organs were donated by her parents after she was declared brain dead, describing their decision as an extraordinary example of courage and compassion.
Aalin, who was undergoing treatment following a critical medical condition, was declared brain dead by doctors. In the midst of their personal tragedy, her parents—Mrs. Sherin N. John and Mr. Arun Abraham—decided to donate her organs, giving a new lease of life to several patients.
The incident has drawn national attention, with many leaders and citizens praising the family’s humanitarian gesture. The Kerala government also accorded state honours at Aalin’s funeral, recognising the family’s decision as a message of humanity and social responsibility.

‘A name that is moving the nation’
In a post on his X handle, Chief Minister Hemant Soren wrote, “Aalin Sherin Abraham, a little girl from our country, Kerala… this name is moving the entire nation.”
He said losing a child is the most unbearable moment for any parent. Yet, at such a time of grief, the decision to donate their daughter’s organs was not ordinary, but an act of “extraordinary courage, sacrifice and compassion.”
“This was not just an organ donation; it was a living testimony to their unwavering faith in humanity,” he said.
Though Aalin’s life was short, Soren said she now lives on as hope in many homes and has, in a way, become immortal.
Praise for Kerala CM, push for organ donation awareness
The Jharkhand Chief Minister also saluted Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for according state honours at Aalin’s funeral, saying the gesture elevated the message of humanity.
Soren emphasised that organ donation is the greatest gift of life one can give to others and said the Jharkhand government would take necessary steps to further strengthen the organ donation policy in the state and promote greater awareness.
He paid heartfelt tribute to Aalin and saluted the courage of her parents, calling their act an example that transcends borders, language and differences.
