Ranchi, March 6: Several young aspirants from Jharkhand have brought pride to the state after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2025. A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and other Central Services (Group A and B).

Among the successful candidates, Sudeepa Dutta of Dumka emerged as the top performer from Jharkhand, securing an impressive 41st rank in the national merit list.

Meanwhile, Anuj Agnihotri topped the examination at the national level, followed by Rajeshwari Suve M in second place and Akansh Dhull in third.

Sudeepa Dutta tops Jharkhand with 41st rank

Sudeepa Dutta achieved this milestone in her third attempt. She prepared for the exam while staying in Dumka, often studying at the State Library in the city.

Her father, Sachchidanand Dutta, works as an assistant postmaster, while her mother is a homemaker. Sudeepa had earlier cleared the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination and was selected for the post of Child Development Project Officer (CDPO).

Her success has become a source of inspiration for civil services aspirants across Jharkhand.

Bipul Gupta secures 103rd rank, fulfils IAS dream

Another remarkable success story is that of Bipul Gupta from Chatakpur village in Mahuadand block of Latehar district, who secured the 103rd rank.

Bipul is the son of Pawan Kumar Gupta and Deepa Gupta. In the 2024 UPSC examination, he had secured the 368th rank and was selected for the Indian Forest Service (IFS).

However, his ultimate goal was to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), which he achieved this year through persistence and hard work.

News of his success triggered celebrations in his village, where family members and residents distributed sweets to mark the achievement.

Niharika Sinha from Sahibganj secures 365th rank

Niharika Sinha of Sahibganj also made the state proud by securing the 365th rank in the UPSC examination.

A resident of Kulipada, Niharika comes from a humble background. Her father, Niranjan Sinha, works as a tailor, while her mother, Shabnam Kumari, serves as a contract nurse with the health department.

She completed her Class 10 from St. Xavier’s School, Sahibganj (2018) and Class 12 from Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, Ranchi (2020) before earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata.

After failing in her first attempt in 2024, she succeeded in her second attempt, fulfilling her parents’ dreams.

Shruti Modi from Dhanbad ranks 569th

Shruti Modi of Dhanbad district secured the 569th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.

The daughter of Sitaram Modi and Sushma Modi, she completed her B.Com (Hons.) from Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi.

Currently working as a bank clerk, Shruti continued preparing for the civil services exam alongside her job. Her achievement has been widely celebrated by her family, friends and local organisations including the Varnwal Seva Samiti in Baghmara.

UPSC Civil Services Exam conducted in three stages

The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted annually in three stages — Preliminary Examination, Main Examination and Interview.

This year, the recruitment process aims to fill 1,087 vacancies across various civil services.

The top 10 rank holders in UPSC CSE 2025 are:

  1. Anuj Agnihotri
  2. Rajeshwari Suve M
  3. Akansh Dhull
  4. Raghav Jhunjhunwala
  5. Ishaan Bhatnagar
  6. Zinnia Arora
  7. A.R. Rajah Mohaidin
  8. Pakshal Secretary
  9. Aastha Jain
  10. Ujjwal Priyank

According to the Commission, the candidature of 348 recommended candidates remains provisional for the time being.
