Ranchi, March 28: Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra has taken a serious view of the brutal murder of a 12-year-old girl in Vishnugarh police station area of Hazaribagh district and ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case.

The SIT will be led by trainee IPS officer Nagargoje Shubham Bhausaheb and includes DSP Baijnath Prasad and Vishnugarh police station in-charge Sapan Mahtha. The DGP has directed the team to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a detailed report within one week.

Officials have also been instructed to expedite the probe and ensure the early arrest of those involved in the crime.

BJP Issues Protest Warning

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has warned of statewide protests if the accused are not arrested within 24 hours.

Addressing a press conference in Ranchi, BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu said the party would organise torchlight processions across all blocks of Hazaribagh on March 29, followed by a district-wide bandh on March 30.

Sahu visited Kusumba village in Bishnugarh block along with party leaders, including MP Manish Jaiswal, former Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri, MLAs Nagendra Mahto, Amit Yadav and Roshan Lal Chaudhary, and district president Vivekananda Singh.

“Incident Deeply Disturbing”

Sahu described the incident as “deeply disturbing and heart-wrenching.” The victim, a 12-year-old girl and daughter of a labourer, had reportedly gone to watch a local procession when she was abducted, sexually assaulted, and murdered.

He alleged administrative inaction, claiming officials failed to promptly visit the victim’s family and provide assistance. He also criticised the state government over the law-and-order situation and raised concerns about women’s safety.

Demands and Political Attack

The BJP demanded:

  • Immediate arrest and capital punishment for the accused
  • ₹50 lakh compensation to the victim’s family
  • A government job for the victim’s father
  • Security for the family

The party also urged leaders of the ruling alliance—JMM, Congress, and RJD—to visit the village and assess the situation.

Party media in-charge Shivpujan Pathak, co-in-charge Yogendra Pratap Singh, and spokespersons Avinesh Kumar Singh and Ajay Sahu were also present at the press conference.
