Jamshedpur, April 14: Jharkhand is witnessing a steady rise in temperatures, with dry weather prevailing across most parts of the state, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Among major cities, Jamshedpur recorded the highest maximum temperature at 39.6°C, followed by Chaibasa (39.4°C) and Daltonganj (38.8°C). Ranchi recorded 35.6°C, while Bokaro reported 37.5°C. Minimum temperatures dipped, with the lowest at 14.4°C in Gumla. No rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours, and visibility in Jamshedpur was around 2000 metres.

Dry spell with rising temperatures

The IMD forecast indicates mainly clear skies and dry weather on April 15. Conditions will remain largely dry on April 16, with partly cloudy skies expected, contributing to a gradual rise in temperature across the state.

Rain to bring brief relief

A slight change is expected from April 17, with light rain likely at isolated places in northeastern Jharkhand, along with chances of thunder and lightning in other areas. On April 18, light rain is also expected at isolated places in southern Jharkhand, offering short-term relief from the heat.

Heat wave and weather systems

Heat wave conditions may affect isolated areas around April 17, except in the northeastern and adjoining central regions. An east-west trough from northeast Uttar Pradesh to Manipur and a north-south trough extending from northeast Bihar to Tamil Nadu are influencing the current weather pattern.

Overall, Jharkhand is likely to experience intensifying heat in the coming days, with only temporary relief from light rain and thunderstorms.
