Jamshedpur, April 29: A spell of unstable weather is set to impact Jharkhand from April 29 to May 2, with thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and gusty winds forecast in multiple areas.
According to the latest meteorological update, eastern and adjoining central parts of the state are likely to witness thunderstorms on April 29 and 30, accompanied by lightning, gusty winds of 50–60 kmph, and isolated hailstorms on April 30.
Other regions may also experience similar weather conditions, though wind speeds are expected to be slightly lower at 40–50 kmph.
On May 1, thunderstorm and lightning activity with winds of 40–50 kmph is expected at isolated places across Jharkhand. The same pattern is likely to continue on May 2, although north-western areas may remain largely unaffected.
The prevailing weather conditions are linked to a trough in the westerlies along longitude 86°E, north of latitude 20°N, along with an east-west trough extending from north Haryana to Manipur. Multiple cyclonic circulations over west Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bangladesh, and south Assam are further intensifying the system.
Meanwhile, very light to light rainfall with thunderstorms has already been recorded at isolated places. The highest rainfall of 4.8 mm was reported at Maithon DVC in Dhanbad in the past 24 hours.
Residents are advised to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and take necessary precautions against lightning and strong winds.
