Ranchi, May 12: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has issued an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, raising a series of political and economic concerns and urging the Centre to prioritise public welfare over what it termed “corporate interests.”

The letter, issued by the JMM Central Committee and signed by central spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya, lists nine suggestions and criticisms directed at the Prime Minister and the BJP-led government at the Centre.

JMM Raises Nine Key Demands

In the letter, the party urged the Prime Minister to suspend foreign visits and BJP rallies for one year, except under extraordinary circumstances.

The JMM also called on the Centre to stop waiving loans of “12 corporate friends” and alleged that natural resources such as forests, water bodies, and land were being handed over to corporate groups as “gifts.”

The party further demanded greater encouragement for India’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and stressed the need to promote domestically manufactured products.

Demand for MSP on Agricultural and Dairy Products

The JMM urged the Centre to end the storage of imported food grains and instead implement MSP (Minimum Support Price) for domestic agricultural produce and dairy products.

The letter also criticised remarks linked to reducing gold purchases and postponing train services, stating that gold remains an important part of social and family traditions in India.

JMM Alleges Centre Wants ‘Emergency-Like Situation’

In one of its strongest remarks, the JMM alleged that the Centre was attempting to create an “emergency-like” situation in the country.

“You are trying to once again impose conditions similar to a lockdown or emergency in the country so that people lose employment and students’ education gets disrupted,” the letter stated.

The document was released under the banner of “Nation First, Citizens Trust” by the JMM Central Committee.
