Daltonganj, May 13: The long-pending demand for a dedicated Bar Association building in Daltonganj moved a step closer to reality on Wednesday with the laying of the foundation stone for a new G+4 structure within the court premises.
The foundation stone was laid jointly by Principal District and Sessions Judge Ram Sharma, Principal Judge of Family Court Sanjeev Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat, Palamu Bar Association president Ramdeo Yadav, and other dignitaries.
G+4 building with basement parking planned
Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) Building Division, Mahender Ram, said the proposed structure will be a G+4 building equipped with modern facilities, including vehicle parking in the basement area.
“It’s a G+4 building with all amenities, including vehicle parking in the basement,” Ram said.
According to officials, the project has an estimated cost of ₹4.70 crore and will be constructed by M/s Vishakha Construction Company Pvt Ltd.
The building, spread across 3,200 square feet, is scheduled to be completed within 12 months.

Congested location may pose challenge
Speaking about the timeline, Executive Engineer Mahender Ram acknowledged that the congested location could create challenges during construction.
“The construction agency will have to work hard to ensure enough space for construction activities, as adequate working space is crucial for projects of this scale,” he said.
The construction site is located in a heavily crowded court area that witnesses heavy footfall during court hours. Several small and large kiosks operating near the site may also affect construction activities.
Concerns raised over timely completion
Some members of the legal fraternity expressed concerns over whether the project would be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Senior advocate Ruchir Tiwary said he had reservations regarding timely completion, alleging that the construction agency has a history of delays in executing projects.
However, officials clarified that there is no shortage of funds for the project.
“There is no issue regarding fund availability in this case,” Executive Engineer Mahender Ram said.
