Gandhinagar, May 13: In one of the biggest bureaucratic reshuffles in recent years, the Gujarat government has transferred and reassigned 72 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across the state, bringing major changes in district administration, urban governance, and key government departments.
The extensive transfer order, issued by the General Administration Department on Tuesday, includes the appointment of new collectors in Ahmedabad, Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Morbi, Dahod, Junagadh, Kutch, and several other districts.
The reshuffle also covers important departments such as education, energy, tourism, industries, tribal development, and municipal administration.
Officials said the move is aimed at strengthening governance and speeding up the implementation of development programmes across Gujarat.
Key appointments in state administration
Senior IAS officer D.N. Modi has been appointed Development Commissioner, Gandhinagar, one of the state’s most significant administrative posts.
Anand Babulal Patel has been posted as Commissioner of Schools, with additional responsibilities as Commissioner of PM-POSHAN Yojana and Director of GCERT.
Sujeet Kumar, who was serving as Ahmedabad Collector, has been appointed Special Commissioner of State Tax in Ahmedabad.
Ajay Prakash has been named Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd. (GETCO).
Dr Sourabh Zamsingh Pardhi, former Surat Collector, has been appointed Director of Civil Supplies and Ex-officio Additional Secretary.
Kshipra Suryakantarao Agre will serve as Commissioner of MSME, Gandhinagar, along with additional charge as Commissioner of Services.

- Milind Bapna – Collector, Arvalli-Modasa
- H.M. Vora – Collector, Botad
- N.D. Parmar – Collector, Dangs-Ahwa

Municipal corporations and urban bodies get new officers
Several IAS officers have also been assigned key positions in municipal corporations and urban development bodies.

- R.N. Dodiya – Municipal Commissioner, Anand Municipal Corporation
- J.S. Prajapati – Municipal Commissioner, Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation
- N.F. Chaudhari – Municipal Commissioner, Vapi Municipal Corporation
- J.K. Jadav – Municipal Commissioner, Surendranagar Municipal Corporation
- B.D. Davera – Municipal Commissioner, Gandhidham Municipal Corporation

Focus on energy, tourism, and technology sectors
The reshuffle also includes several strategic appointments in the energy, tourism, and technology sectors.
- Gaurangbhai H. Makwana – Director, Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA)
- Vipin Garg – Managing Director, Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd.
- Jincy Roy – Managing Director, Gujarat Informatics Ltd.
- Shivani Goyal – Managing Director, Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (MGVCL)
Young IAS officers given field responsibilities
Several IAS officers from the 2021 and 2022 batches have been given important district-level and tribal development assignments.

- Anchu Wilson – District Development Officer, Mehsana

Government aims to strengthen governance
The large-scale reshuffle reflects the Gujarat government’s effort to bring fresh leadership into district administration and key departments.
Officials said the appointments are expected to improve administrative efficiency, strengthen urban governance, and accelerate implementation of development projects related to education, tourism, industrial growth, and tribal welfare.
