Ranchi, May 15: Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash has written to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren seeking immediate intervention in the Trikut ropeway accident case, alleging delay in investigation and denial of justice to victims’ families.

In his letter dated May 15, 2026, the BJP MP referred to the April 10, 2022, Trikut ropeway tragedy in Deoghar in which three people died, and several others were injured. He alleged that even after four years, the investigation remains incomplete.
Questions Raised Over Investigation
Deepak Prakash claimed that despite the seriousness of the incident, the FIR was registered only under bailable sections. He urged the government to ensure a fair and time-bound investigation and to file supplementary chargesheets against all accused persons.

The MP also alleged that while the chargesheet named only the site manager, the role of the company’s Managing Director, Aditya Chamaria, was kept under investigation despite police reportedly finding allegations against him to be true.
He further alleged that police officials had failed to take effective action against the company’s top management.
Jharkhand Govt Had Blacklisted Ropeway Company
Referring to earlier action taken by the state government, Prakash noted that the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) had blacklisted the ropeway operating company and imposed a penalty of ₹9.11 crore following the accident.
However, he alleged that effective recovery of the penalty amount was still pending and sought strict enforcement action.
Demand for Arrests and Accountability
The BJP MP urged the state government to ensure the arrest of the company’s Managing Director and initiate departmental and legal proceedings against any police officials found shielding the accused.
He stated that public confidence in law enforcement weakens when influential persons allegedly receive protection while victims’ families continue to await justice.
Prakash urged the Chief Minister to take “strong and decisive action” to ensure justice for those affected by the Trikut ropeway tragedy.
