PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, May 25: The district administration and police have put Jamshedpur on high alert ahead of Bakrid (Eid-ul-Adha), with elaborate security and traffic arrangements in place to ensure peaceful celebrations on May 28.

As part of the special measures, the administration has imposed a complete ban on the entry and movement of heavy vehicles across the city from 5 AM to 11 PM on the day of the festival.

Passenger buses have been exempted from the restriction to avoid inconvenience to commuters.

The order was issued jointly under the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Traffic DSP, with the SSP’s office formally notifying the revised traffic regulations.

Officials said the decision was taken in view of the expected rush during Eid prayers, increased traffic congestion and the need for enhanced security arrangements.

Security Tightened at Sensitive Locations

Preparations at mosques across the city are in the final stages, with authorities and mosque committees ensuring cleanliness, drinking water and other essential facilities for devotees.

Police have intensified surveillance in sensitive and high-footfall areas, deploying additional personnel to maintain law and order throughout the festival.

The administration has appealed to residents to cooperate with officials and follow traffic advisories and security guidelines to help ensure peaceful and orderly celebrations.
