Jamshedpur, June 2: In a major relief for passengers, the South Eastern Railway has withdrawn its earlier decision to cancel several trains originating from or passing through Tatanagar due to planned infrastructure work.
All affected trains scheduled to operate between June 7 and June 18 will now run as per their original timetable and route.
The cancellations had been announced in view of proposed signalling and operational modernisation work near Champa station in Chhattisgarh. Railway authorities had planned a traffic block to facilitate infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving train speed and operational efficiency.
Services to Run as Scheduled
The proposed traffic block had led to the cancellation of nearly a dozen trains running between Howrah, Santragachi, Shalimar and destinations in Chhattisgarh via the Chakradharpur–Rourkela section. Some services were also scheduled to be diverted.
However, the railway administration has now revoked the cancellation order, ensuring normal operations on the busy Howrah–Mumbai corridor.
The move has brought relief to thousands of passengers who were expected to be affected by the disruptions.
Passengers Face Rebooking Rush
The reversal, however, has created fresh challenges for some travellers. Following the initial cancellation announcement, many passengers had already cancelled their confirmed reservations.
With train services now restored, several passengers are finding it difficult to secure seats again due to increased demand.
Long queues were reported at reservation counters at Tatanagar railway station as passengers rushed to rebook their tickets.
Key Trains Restored
Among the prominent trains that were earlier slated for cancellation were services connecting Bilaspur, Itwari, Ara, Rishikesh, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Durg, Udaipur, Bhuj and the Rani Kamalapati Humsafar Express.
Railway officials said all these services will now operate normally in both directions as per the scheduled timetable.
