NEET-UG re-test: Section 163 imposed around exam centres in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, June 20: Ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled for Sunday, the East Singhbhum district administration has enforced stringent security measures to ensure the test is conducted in a fair, peaceful and disruption-free manner.

Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been imposed within a 200-metre radius of all examination centres in the Dhalbhum subdivision.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the re-test from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. Candidates in the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category will be allowed additional time until 6:15 pm.

Restrictions Around Exam Centres

According to an order issued by Dhalbhum Sub-Divisional Officer Arnav Mishra, the restrictions are aimed at maintaining law and order, preventing malpractice and ensuring a conducive atmosphere for candidates.

The administration has prohibited the unauthorised possession or use of mobile phones and electronic devices, carrying of books, notes or other materials that could facilitate cheating, and gatherings of more than five persons for demonstrations, speeches or sloganeering.

The carrying or display of weapons, use of loudspeakers, bursting of firecrackers and any activity likely to disturb peace and harmony have also been banned.

Curbs Effective Till June 21

The restrictions will not apply to candidates carrying valid admit cards or officials engaged in examination-related duties.

The prohibitory orders will come into effect at 10 pm on June 20 and remain in force until 9 pm on June 21.

Authorities have warned that violations will invite legal action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and other applicable laws.

The district administration has urged candidates, parents and residents to cooperate with officials and follow the guidelines to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of the examination.
