IIT (ISM) wraps up refresher course on 6G and optical communication

Dhanbad, June 26: The Department of Electronics Engineering at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad on Friday concluded its 12-day Refresher Course on “Advanced Optical Communication for 6G and Beyond” with a valedictory session, marking the successful completion of a programme focused on next-generation communication technologies.

The course brought together academics and experts from across the country to discuss emerging technologies expected to shape the future of communication systems.

48 expert lectures by leading institutions

The valedictory session was attended by Head of the Department of Electronics Engineering Prof. Ravi Kumar Gangwar, Head of the Department of Physics Prof. Vineet Rai, faculty members, research scholars, students and participants from the Departments of Electronics Engineering and Physics.

The programme was coordinated by Prof. Amitesh Kumar and co-coordinated by Prof. Govind Murmu, who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty members and participants.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Amitesh Kumar said the refresher course featured 48 expert lectures delivered by distinguished speakers from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the Government of India, the IITs, IISc, the NITs, CSIR laboratories, and several other premier institutes and universities.

Focus on quantum technology and 6G

Prof. Kumar said the lectures primarily focused on Quantum Technology while also covering advanced optical communication, 6G technologies, quantum photonics, photonic integrated circuits, optical sensing, and photonic and microwave devices.

He said the sessions provided participants with valuable exposure to the latest research developments and future technological trends in next-generation communication systems.

62 faculty members participated

A total of 62 faculty members from different parts of the country participated in the refresher course, making it a platform for academic exchange, knowledge sharing and professional development.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Govind Murmu, who thanked the resource persons, the Programme Director, the organising team and all participants for their contributions in making the refresher course a success.
