Railway officials briefed the committee on the proposed master plan for redeveloping Tatanagar Railway Station, stating that the project aims to provide world-class passenger amenities, improved circulation areas, upgraded passenger information systems and more efficient station management.
The redevelopment is expected to significantly enhance the travel experience while preparing the station to handle increasing passenger traffic in the years ahead.
Committee Seeks Better Passenger Amenities
The advisory committee appreciated the station’s cleanliness and commended the efforts of the railway administration in maintaining hygiene across the premises.
Members, however, suggested further improvements in waiting halls, drinking water facilities, toilets, accessibility for differently-abled passengers and other commuter amenities to enhance passenger convenience.
Train Punctuality, Congestion Among Key Issues
Train punctuality and operational efficiency also featured prominently during the discussions.
Railway officials informed the committee that continuous technical and operational measures are being implemented to improve on-time performance and ensure smoother train movement.
A key proposal discussed during the meeting was operating select trains from Adityapur Railway Station to reduce congestion at Tatanagar.
Both railway officials and committee members observed that decentralising some train operations could help decongest Tatanagar, improve passenger convenience and enhance overall operational efficiency.
Railways Assure Action on Suggestions
The meeting concluded with an assurance from the railway administration that the suggestions put forward by the advisory committee would be examined positively.
Officials reiterated their commitment to developing Tatanagar Railway Station into a safer, more efficient and technologically advanced rail hub, with the ongoing redevelopment project expected to transform it into a world-class gateway for passengers travelling across eastern India.
