Jamshedpur, August 24: Kadma-based businessman Nikhar Sablok (33) was shot dead near Kanderbera on Monday after armed assailants allegedly opened multiple rounds of fire at him.
Sablok, a resident of Vijaya Heritage, sustained four bullet injuries and succumbed to his wounds while undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital (TMH). The incident triggered panic in the area and sent shockwaves through the local business community.
According to preliminary information, Sablok had gone to Hotel 10th Mile Stone near Kanderbera on NH-33 in connection with business-related work.
While he was at the location, armed assailants allegedly targeted him and opened fire. Sablok suffered multiple gunshot wounds and collapsed at the spot.
His associates immediately rushed him to TMH in critical condition. Despite efforts by doctors to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
News of his death left his family, friends and associates in shock and mourning.
Police Examine CCTV Footage
Sablok was associated with the hotel business and was also involved in several other commercial ventures.
Following the shooting, police reached the spot and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the hotel and surrounding areas is being examined to identify the attackers and establish their movements before and after the incident.
Police are also questioning people who were present with Sablok at the time of the shooting.
Business Dispute or Personal Rivalry?
Investigators are probing whether the murder was linked to a business dispute, personal enmity or an old rivalry.
Police are also tracing the route allegedly taken by the assailants after the shooting and gathering information about Sablok’s recent business and personal dealings.
The killing has once again raised concerns over the safety of businessmen in and around Jamshedpur.
Police officials said efforts were underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the murder.
