Jamshedpur, September 8: A total of 1,990 students were conferred degrees at the fourth convocation ceremony of Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) on Tuesday, marking an important milestone for the graduating students as they begin a new phase of their academic and professional lives.
Jharkhand Governor and Chancellor of the university Santosh Kumar Gangwar conferred the degrees and congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their academic programmes.
The ceremony brought together graduating students, faculty members, university officials, parents and guests to celebrate the achievements of the batch.

Governor stresses values along with academic excellence
Addressing the graduates, Gangwar said a convocation was not merely an occasion to celebrate the students’ academic achievements but also a moment of pride for their parents, families and teachers, whose support and guidance had played an important role in their journey.
He urged the graduates to carry forward the knowledge and values acquired at the university and apply them meaningfully in their professional and personal lives.
The Governor emphasised that academic excellence should go hand in hand with integrity, discipline, responsibility and strong moral values.
He encouraged the students to pursue their ambitions with confidence while remaining connected to their roots and contributing positively to society.
Stressing the importance of good sanskar and ethical conduct, Gangwar said true success becomes meaningful when accompanied by character and a sense of social responsibility.
Graduates begin new chapter
For the 1,990 graduates, the convocation marked the transition from university life to a new phase offering opportunities in higher education, research, professional careers and entrepreneurship.
Several students expressed happiness at receiving their degrees after years of hard work and perseverance.
“This is a very special and emotional moment for me. Receiving my degree in the presence of the Chancellor, teachers and my family has made the achievement even more memorable. The university has given me not only academic knowledge but also the confidence to face new challenges,” a graduating student said.
The ceremony also acknowledged the contribution of faculty members and families in supporting the academic and personal development of the students.
With the formal conferment of degrees, the graduating batch embarked on a new chapter, carrying with them the knowledge, experiences and values gained during their years at Jamshedpur Women’s University.
