Jamshedpur, Sept 24: An armed robbery was reported at the Canara Bank branch in Golmuri on Thursday morning, triggering panic among employees and customers and prompting an immediate police response.
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 10 am, shortly after the bank opened for business.
Robbers allegedly hold bank staff, customers hostage
A group of armed criminals allegedly entered the branch and held employees and customers hostage before carrying out the robbery.
The robbers reportedly threatened those inside and proceeded to loot the bank. The exact amount of cash and valuables allegedly taken was not immediately known.
Police teams reached the branch after receiving information about the incident and began collecting evidence. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other technical inputs to reconstruct the sequence of events and identify the suspects.

Bloodstains found inside bank
Photographs from the scene showed bloodstains and signs of a violent confrontation inside the banking premises, indicating that some people may have sustained injuries during the incident.
However, the number and condition of injured persons were not immediately available.
The Canara Bank Golmuri branch is located at Marwah Arcade, Masjid Road, Golmuri.
Police trace suspects through CCTV
Police officials said the movements of the suspects before and after the robbery were being traced through CCTV cameras and other technical evidence.
“We are examining the CCTV footage and other evidence to identify the suspects and ascertain the exact sequence of events. Further details, including the amount of cash looted and the number of persons injured, will be established during the investigation,” a police officer said.
The incident has raised concerns over security arrangements at bank branches, particularly during opening hours when employees and customers begin arriving and cash transactions commence.
